Voice into Poetry Workshop - Free Intro on Monday at 5:30pm PT

Plus photos from Pop! Poetry Night with Downtown Van

Hello,

I had the good fortune of working with Downtown Van over the summer to produce a free evening poetry on Sept 12th. This event included a workshop (led by me), two poetry-inspired activations by New West Poet Laureate Elliott Slinn and hello yello, live music by Steve Edwards, and a performance featuring 6 local poets. Those poets included: D Fretter, Sayer, Johnny MacRae (pictured below), Sumaiya Tufail, Lindi Nolte, and Elliott Slinn.

30+ of you came to the workshop and then stayed for the performances! I was absolutely blown away. Here’s just two of the photos from the event, taken by David Geary. I’ll be sharing more to Instagram soon.

Below these photos find info on the free intro to my next poetry writing worksop: Voice into Poetry.

UPCOMING CLASSES

Voice into Poetry - 7-week poetry writing workshop
Free intro

Free intro: Monday, October 7th from 5:30-6:30pm, ONLINE —> REGISTER

What is your relationship to your voice? How does it feel to speak out loud what resides within your internal world? When you apologize, speak up for what you believe in, use your voice to be playful… what arises within you?

In this free intro to the Voice into Poetry series:

  • I'll share information about the structure of the upcoming workshop,

  • We'll explore a simple somatic exercise to explore your experience of voice, using poetry as your text.

Learn more about the 7-week Voice into Poetry series (only 4 spots remaining).

P.S Writer and leadership coach, Gloria Eid is facilitating a 5-week grief circle starting October 15th. I supported Gloria to edit her book of poetry ‘Waves: Poems on Grief’ a couple years ago. Gloria offers a beautiful container to write and speak about grief for those who need it. There only a couple spots left in her grief circle if you’re interested.

P.P.S. In September, I was flown to Toronto to teach my very first 5-day writing retreat. It went incredibly well (September was a good month). I’ll be heading back to Whilewoods Retreat Centre to teach another retreat in March. More info (and also photos) coming soon.
