Registration Open: Embodied Poetry Writing Series

Plus some student wins I'm excited to share!

Hello,

It’s back!! The Spring Term of my Embodied Poetry 8-Week Writing workshop is coming up, and I’d like to tell you about it.

In this 8-week series, you’ll join a small group of just six participants to reflect deeply on your relationship to the world around you, discover precise ways of using language that enhance your experience, read poetry by poets from around the world, and implement a weekly writing ritual that actually nourishes you.

One of the richest parts of all of my workshops are the connections folks form. I’m not joking — it has been a PLEASURE to witness folks continuing to stay in touch and even supporting one another’s creative work on social media and in the real world.

Curious about what to expect from a poetry writing class? Check out my FAQs page.

Want to learn more about me? Go here to see the organizations I’ve worked with (and even listen to a recording of a poem) — I just created this about page this week, and I’m excited to share it!

Now… before we get to the Spring Workshops (there’s a free one on Monday), I’d like to share some STUDENT wins:

  1. Mariana took a workshop with me about 2 years ago — she was curious about the way poetry and her visual art could come together. At the end of the series she shared this with us. Obviously, we were gobsmacked. The story doesn’t end there.

Late last year, I was reading an issue of Room Magazine and thought to myself ‘Mariana’s work would be perfect for this magazine’. I sent her a nudge saying she might like to submit to their upcoming issues. Well… turns out I was spot on! Marina won second place in Room’s coverart contest! I’m beaming.

  2. Valerie started taking poetry workshops with me 3 years ago. It was her first time writing poetry. Well, how things change… because Valerie is now a PUBLISHED poet. What?!?! Read her poems ‘Forest Fire’ and ‘Blessed’ in the new issue of Counterflow Magazine. I’m honoured to have supported her as an editor for these pieces.

TESTIMONIAL

One of my goals this year was “write more poetry”.

I googled poetry classes and stumbled upon Christine. I felt compelled by her approach and the incorporation of the body and breath.

Her Embodied Poetry series exceeded my expectations and rekindled my connection with my inner voice. I absolutely recommend her as a facilitator and guide because her welcoming and accepting demeanor creates such a safe space for exploration.

P.S — Know someone who would enjoy receiving this email? One of the ways you can support me as a teacher is by sharing these workshops with someone you think might enjoy them. Your support is greatly appreciated.

P.P.S — Mariana (whose story I shared above) has a substack that I’d recommend checking out if you’re interested in striking art and sincere reflections on the creative process. It’s so good!
