Embodied Poetry Workshop Starts Sept 8th
2 spots remaining

Hello,
Curious about the relationship between poetry and the body? Embodied Poetry, an 8-Week Workshop, starts on Monday, Sept 8th at 5:30pm, online. There are just two spots left.
In this workshop you will:
🔸 Learn about the relationship between poetry and the body when it comes to the layout on the page, sound play, imagery, metaphor, and rhythm.
🔸 Reflect deeply on your relationship to the world around you.
🔸 Explore how to use expressive language to enhance and define your experience.
🔸 Read poetry by poets from around the world, noticing the rich tapestry of ways individuals have written about their experience.
🔸 Implement a weekly writing ritual that is both nourishing and joyous.
Here's some testimonials from past participants:
"I was fortunate enough to return to Christine’s 8-week Embodied Poetry workshop for a second time this fall (2021). My confidence in Christine as a gifted, innovative poetry writing facilitator and teacher was already there. Writing is a state of mind and body. This workshop helps to understand that connection and that helped me learn how to be in that space for my writing." - Lea
"You will come out of her classes with increased confidence and a deeper joy of writing." - Grace
"It was the perfect excuse to focus on what my soul needs on a consistent basis." - Erin
Never written a poem before?
No experience is necessary! I like to think of poetry as something you make with the materials of your imagination and way of seeing way of the world. It can be a lot of fun.
Workshop Details:
When: Mondays, September 8th – November 3rd 2025 (no class Oct 13th)
Where: Online, Over Zoom
Number of Participants: 6 (2 spots remaining)
Workshops with DVBIA this Summer
This summer I was hired by DVBIA to teach three community poetry writing workshops.
The first two happened in August. We wrote odes to our lost hobbies and wondered about different metaphors for uncertainty that emphasized hope rather than fear. Around 25 participants showed up for each experience.
The final event is just around the corner.
Pop-Up Poetics: Free Outdoor Workshop + Performance
📅 Thursday, Sept 11th
🕔 5:00–7:30 PM PT
📍 Lot 19 (855 W Hastings Street)
From 5:00–6:15 PM, join me and my co-facilitator Georgy Manterola to explore the process of writing a poem and speaking it out loud to music. Our theme: community and belonging.
Then, from 6:30–7:30 PM, stay for an evening of poetry and music under the stars featuring local poets Johnny MacRae and Adonis Critter King. There will be five open mic spots available. Sign up for a spot between 6:20–6:30 PM.
Psst… this isn’t your usual open mic. Each open mic reader will be accompanied by Georgy on piano. No experience necessary. Just bring your voice and curiosity.
Mark your calendars and watch the DVBIA instagram channel for the official event announcement on Monday. This is going to be really special.
